THE SCHWAB FAMILY

1866
George Peter Schwab was born in Sachsenhausen, West Germany where he learned the craft of making sausages.
JULY 20
1890
At the age of 24, George Schwab landed on Ellis Island with several prized old-world sausage recipes that had been passed down through his family. He set forth to pursue his dream of bringing authentic German sausages to the United States.
MID-1890
Schwab moved to Leavenworth, Kansas where he began making sausages for a living and eventually met and married Katharina Kirshner. There, they had their first two children - Chris and Katie.
1900
With his wife and two children, Schwab relocated to Oklahoma City and added two new members to their family - Walter and Frieda.
November 16, 1907
Oklahoma was officially granted statehood.
1912
Schwab Meat Co. established the storefront that's still used to this day at 1111 Linwood Blvd.
1923
Two more Schwab's, Christoph and Leonhard followed George's footsteps and moved to Oklahoma City to help further expand the family business.
1924
Schwab Meat Co. forms our first restaurant partnership with Coney Island Hot Dogs.
1930s
Schwab uses a fleet of delivery trucks to supply the citizens of Oklahoma City with our fine sausages.
1950s
Walter Schwab, and his sons George and Jack, came into leadership to help further growth of the family business.
1970s
We brought in a spice specialist from Chicago to help us develop our recipes so that our unique spices can be premixed.
2012
Schwab Meat Co. celebrates 100 years of business.
2013
Jack's sons, Scott and Larry, take over the family business as fifth generation sausage makers.
NOW
Schwab continues to smoke fine meats and serve them up to the hungry people throughout the country.
